Bazaar After Dark (a program of Pulse Young Professionals Network) is dedicated to revitalizing and drawing positive attention to underutilized business districts in the Fox Valley, while fostering community collaborations through art, music, and common experiences. Pulse Young Professionals Network is partnering with the City of Menasha, BOOM (Business Owners of Menasha) and Habitat for Humanity to kick off their ‘Rock the Block’ neighborhood build in Menasha & Neenah this spring. The public mural component of the night market is a way of visually demonstrating our commitment to the renewal and growth of each neighborhood, in hopes that the community will join us in investing in its prosperity.
Any artist or small team of artists interested in creating a two dimensional mural, to be completed on Thursday, July 20th, 2017, may submit a proposal in accordance with the guidelines provided below.
Complete a ‘live’ public mural for an outdoor environment that reflects the spirit of downtown Menasha. Preparatory work can be done in advance, but finishing work will be done during the market as a live piece of performance art.
Engage the local artist community by encouraging proposals reflecting hopes and goals for their own neighborhoods.
The wall(s) we have designated for the mural are located in Downtown Menasha.
A narrative and design illustrating your concept is required for each submission. Include supplemental information such as medium, sketches, and approximate dimensions of the proposed mural (adaptable).
Supporting materials including images of previous works are strongly encouraged.
Funding for the mural will be obtained through sponsorships secured by Pulse. There will be a minimum payment of $2,500 to the artist; with additional funding likely, but dependent upon the necessary supplies, building cleaning/preparation, and other associated costs of the project.
The submission deadline is Wednesday, June 21st 2017.
